Federica Del Proposto is an Award Winning Illustrator, Cartoonist, Comic Artist, and Visual Artist, currently based in Rome. Born in Rome, she grew up in a family of nurses and doctors, but she immediately showed an interest in art and drawing.

She graduated in Architecture at Università degli studi Roma Tre with a first class honors Master’s degree. While attending architecture classes she started drawing short comics, publishing her first short stories both for her own comics-blog “fumettisottovuoto”, that back in 2008 became one of the most popular blog in Italy,

and for Coconino Press, a well-known Italian publisher specialized in graphic novels and alternative comics, receiving her first Italian recognitions and awards.

After graduation she won the EU Leonardo da Vinci training scholarship for European young architects and in 2010 she moved to Paris for a six months internship at ECDM, a Parisian architecture firm specializing in residential buildings’ design. She then chose to stay in Paris and while working as an architect she started regularly drawing editorial illustrations for the European (Vivre Paris Magazine, ELLE France) and American (The Wall Street Journal, The New York TImes) press.

In 2014 she quit her job as an architect to focus on her art, starting her career as a freelance illustrator. She has worked on projects ranging from editorial and publishing to advertising and graphic communication.

Her particular graphic and narrative style has been featured by organizations and companies such as Paris2024, Leroy Merlin, RATP Parisian Public Transport Group, Hyundai, Airbnb and newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Financial Times, Forbes, Monocle and many more.

She has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations in international illustration competitions such as AI – American Illustration 2021/2018/2016/2015, London AOI WIA 2018, 3×3 Professional Award 2015, Berlin Young Illustrators Award 2015.

She has exhibited her works both in solo and group exhibitions in European galleries and Museums such as Cité Internationale des Arts de Paris, Triennale di Milano, London Somerset House, Galerie Robillard – Paris, Direktorenhaus – Berlin.

Her artworks are characterized by the influence of the three different visual arts that are part of her background : illustration, architecture and comics.

By combining pop art, technical outlines drawing and storytelling she has developed a particular style of illustration that uses clear strong lines and flat bright colors, with an eye for the 20s Art Déco style and french Ligne claire comics’ style.
